Is this bandwagon full already?

Ok, I know I'm really behind. Jon and I had been ignoring Firefly. We hadn't been exposed and it was another thing we could discard as not knowing what we were missing so let's keep it that way.

Except we caught two episodes on Sci Fi last night.

And I loved it in a Dan Brown sort of way. (Meaning it's really too intense for me and I will end up with nightmares but I love it anyway and can't stop watching.)

Now of course we want to see all of it before we see the movie. Does anyone have a set they haven't already lent to others that we could borrow?

We're a little far away for you to borrow ours:(

I haven't had time to watch it yet (given that everyone has warned me that "you can't eat just one" so I'd be stuck in front of the computer for 8 hours once I started, and I haven't had eight hours at a stretch lately), so I'm going to the movie blind. The quotes everyone is posting look like mighty tasty dialogue, though, not that I'd expect anything less from Joss Whedon.

Re: We're a little far away for you to borrow ours:(

Ditto what Stephanie said. Yes, Joss is all about the tasty...I don't think you'll be too disadvantaged if you see the movie blind, though if you have time to watch the pilot ep you'll be pleased. It's a little tough to figure out how everyone got there otherwise. Another good one to watch, if you're not watching them all, is "Out of Gas". I have some artistic quarrel with the ending of the movie, so for a while after I saw it I felt it would really be better for folks not to see the series before they saw the movie. Right now, I feel pretty neutral.

But I really encourage you both to go the opening weekend (and bring your friends!) if for no other reason than to boost the ticket sales. I want to see this movie take the top slot on its opening weekend, to help convince execs that they need to make a sequel!

Besides, Miss 'Bird, I tried to cram the whole series in the week before I went to see the screening, and I just couldn't do it. 14 hours is a lot of TV. More than I expected.

Also in the "not know what you're missing" category, if you have Sci Fi you must stay away from Battlestar Galactica. More intense than Firefly but very, very pretty.

Which two did you see, by the way?

We saw "Out of Gas" and the one after it. I think it's called "Ariel" or something like that.

Welcoming another into the fold...

Yup, sounds right. Good, good, good! You're all set. In that case, the pilot ep seems wholly unnecessary.

Squee! I can't wait for everyone to see this movie so that I can pick it apart piece by piece. Maybe after that I can tattoo "GEEK" on my forehead. But I don't care.

You can borrow ours, honey.

The great thing about lending out "Firefly" is that people always finish it really quickly. Heh!

Thanks to LT, Toadnae and Wired we have disk one. But we'll probably go through that tonight. :)
